Andrei is a world-class instructor with multiple awards and achievements in sambo, judo and paper editer Mixed Martial Arts. Andrei began his sports career in 1978 in the Olympic Development School of Moscow Sambo 70, one of the most prestigious schools in the former Soviet Union. He graduated in 1981 with the title of Master of Sport in Sambo of the USSR, and was awarded a 4th degree black belt in Judo.
From 1983 to 1985 Andrei served as a sergeant in the Special Forces of the Soviet Army. He graduated from the State Central Institute of Physical Education in Moscow in 1990 with a double degree in coaching & personal training, and in sports medicine, massage & physical therapy. After the graduation, Andrei became a Professor of Physical Education and was the judo and sambo head coach at the Moscow State University of Civil Engineering.
Since 1991, after immigrating to the United States, Andrei worked as a personal trainer and a self-defense instructor in a variety of sports clubs in Massachusetts. In 1993, he obtained a Massachusetts massage license and opened the International Massage Therapy Center at ghostwriter Fitness First Gym in Arlington. From 1995 to 2006, Andrei worked as a massage therapist for Boston Bruins.
After retiring from Boston Bruins in 2007, Andrei founded Sambo 7 school. Two years later, in 2009, Sambo 7 team became the champions of the USA Open Sambo Championships.
Andrei’s mission is to popularise his sambo passion in the United States and around the world. He believes that hard work and perseverance combined with high goal setting and self-accountability always yield consistent results.
Scott LaPanne is a retired US Marine who teaches wrestling and combat skills. He has 20 years of competitive experience and is USAW certified. Scott has been a wrestling coach since 2002, working in Marblehead, Swampscott, Everett and Belmont.
Scott competes as the captain of Sambo 7 team. In 2014 he won the USA Sambo National Championship, the US Pan-American Sambo Championship, and the Bay State Games.
Kevin Gerstel has years of experience both as a trainer and as a competitive amateur boxer. He has a formal education and certification in Exercise Science. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Sports Medicine from Merrimack College in 2003 with a concentration in Exercise Physiology. He became recognised as a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) by the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) after taking the Certification Exam in 2004. After graduating, Kevin worked as a fitness instructor at Route 1 Racquet & Fitness in Saugus, and later at the MIT Wang Fitness Center.
Kevin is currently registered with the USA Boxing as a coach and as an amateur boxer. He also certified in the CPR and First Aid. Kevin has had his own training and boxing instructions business since 2004 and is currently the owner and the sole trainer in 13 Strikes Boxing and Fitness.
